Massive Help to People vs. Impact on the Ecosystem by: Austyn Oklahoma, USA
Unfortunately for many countries in Africa, The influence and corruption of outside nations from the Western World keeps the people in a perpetual state of poverty. Yes, it is true that this would undoubtedly help the people who are struggling in this region. Yet, does the question of the poverty come to a close because of the expansion of the Waterway project in this region? Could we see a rise of a large middle class in Zimbabwe, Zambi, and Mozambique? I would say even with this system because of the corruption of officials in all those governements and the still larger lack of infrastructure. These places will still have huge amounts of poverty. The only real solution is that a grassroots movement happen in the small towns and villages centered on morals and ethics backed by hard work.
As far as the Ecosystem goes, my father works in the water treatment business and there were plenty of problems dealing with the fish and the reproductive system of it's habitat. Needless to say the system found a way to provide water and protect the many small fish living in its waterways. So the same could be said of The wildlife in Africa if the people who are the head of the Waterway project put the Ecosystem first, the operation can still succeed without needles loss of wildlife
