Visa required for a day trip from Zimbabwe to Zambia and back

Hello, we are (4) US citizens flying into Victoria falls airpot October 5, 2024.

We want to book a 1 day excursion October 6th that leaves Zimbabwe, entering into Zambia, then back to Zimbabwe all in the same day.

We have read this requires a KAZA visa to enter both Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Another site said as of 2022 a visa is not required to enter Zambia if a specified nationality.

I also read that the while a KAZA visa is available at our point of entry (which would be Victoria Fslls Airport) there are no guarantees that you will be granted one?

Can you please clarify if we need the Kaza Visa and if it will be available at Victoria Falls airport?

We don’t want to book the excursion, then not be able to secure the proper visas!

No need for the Kaza Visa

Hi Tom
If you are on US passports then you do not need to get a Visa into Zambia, so you do not need the Kaza visa. Just buy a double entry visa into Zimbabwe at VF airport.
One will be used on your arrival and the second one will be used when you re-enter Zimbabwe after your day trip. If you exit Zimbabwe again to go to Botswana then you would need to buy another single entry visa for that.
The double entry is cheaper than the Kaza for US citizens and you are guaranteed to get one at the airport.
