Victoria Falls Top 5 Adrenaline Pumping ActivitiesVictoria Falls is quite the spectacle, but is also surrounded with phenomenal adventure
There's crazy adventures to be had in the small town of Victoria Falls, which is known as the Adventure Capital of Africa. We wouldn't want you to miss a thing, so I've put together my five favourite activities that I think all adrenaline junkies MUST try. Victoria Falls White Water Rafting"The Gnashing Jaws of Death", "The Overland Truck Eater", "The Terminator" and "The Washing Machine" are only a few of the rapids that will more than likely send you out into the lawless rapids. This section of white water below the Victoria Falls, is considered to be the best one-day white water rafting in the world. In the low water season (August to late December), rafting is more exiting than in the high water season. During high water runs, some of the rapids are unsafe due to the tremendous amount of water, so rapids 1-10 are left out. Low water rafting lasts for about 7 hours, after which you'll hike back up the gorge (which is quite a strenuous climb) and be treated to a cold beer and some lunch and then transfer back to town. Must be 14 years old.
Zambezi River White Water Rafting Victoria Falls Bungee JumpIf you've never felt yourself "swallow your stomach", you will while you're plummeting 111 meters, head first towards the gushing rapids of the Zambezi River. It's not the highest in the world, but with the waterfall behind you and the Batoka gorge all around you, it's probably one of the most spectacular and there's absolutely no room for regret! Must be 14 years old.
Bungee Jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge Victoria Falls Gorge SwingA GIANT swing! The cable is suspended across the gorge at a point where the width is 316 m and 120 m deep. You'll be attached to a harness and the jumping ropes, the other end of which is attached to the middle of the cable. You'll free fall for about 70 meters, and then you'll suddenly begin to swing somewhat calmly. Here you'll really be able to take in all that the gorge is. You can stare in awe at the gorge that surrounds you and at the magnificent life within it. Must be 6 years old.
The gorge swing in Victoria Falls Victoria Falls Devils PoolMy favourite adrenaline activity had me hanging over the waterfall, peering down at the chaos where the water eventually met the river beneath me. The activity takes roughly half a day, beginning with a 7-minute boat ride to Livingstone Island. Your guides will swim with you across a small bit of the river to get you to Devils Pool, and from there you will hop into the pot of rumbling water where an electrifying experience awaits! Afterwards, you'll be treated to a delicious meal and a tour around the island where you can take loads of stunning pictures and learn some amazing history. Must be 12 years old.
Swimming on the edge of the Victoria Falls Victoria Falls High Speed Jet BoatThe 45-minute ride begins in the boiling pot, right beneath the actual Falls, where you can appreciate its intensity as you're being covered in its spray. Thereafter, it's a fast ride through the rapids one, two and three that will absolutely have you belting out a few screams. With a driver and a much heavier weight than a raft, the jet boat won't flip, but you'll still get the thrill of surging through the rapids. Must be 12 years old.
Speeding through the rapids on the lower Zambezi River If you're a thrill seeker, and you're looking to conquer a fear or two, then there's no better place to do so than in the heart of this wonder of the world – Victoria Falls.
