The Zambian side of The Victoria Falls is known as "Livingstone". There is a wide variety of accommodation options but they are spread out over quite a distance, some along the river whilst others are in Livingstone town itself
The "Victoria Falls" are located on the
Zambezi river which is the border between
Zimbabwe and
Zambia, the falls are
therefore shared between the two countries. So one of the first decisions one
needs to make when deciding to come and see the Victoria Falls is - which
side of the falls you are going to stay on?
On the whole accommodation in Zambia is more expensive than on the Zimbabwean
side of the falls. If you are undecided as to which side of the falls to stay on
then this information will be of use to you
Zimbabwe vs Zambia.
There are numerous hotels and lodges on the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls
from backpackers lodges to luxury hotels, most of them however are located more
than 10km from the falls themselves in Livingstone town or on the
Zambezi River further upstream. There are only
two hotels right within walking distance from the falls, and right on the banks
of the Zambezi River namely the Royal
Livingstone hotel and the Avani Victoria Falls Resort.
Please bear in mind when looking for accommodation on the Zambian side that if
you choose one of the hotels that are situated further away that you will incur
extra costs for transfers or taxis to any of the activities you decide to do.
Whereas in Zimbabwe because the whole town is located closer to the falls the
transfer fees are included in the activity price.
The Livingstone Airport (now the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International
Airport) is about 3.5km from Livingstone town and 15kms from the Victoria
Falls themselves. It is a good idea to pre-book an airport transfer when you
make your accommodation booking to ensure that you get there and back
without hassle.
We specialise in accommodation on
the Zimbabwean side of the falls, but we have detailed below a few Zambian
accommodation options for you to have a look at.

Brilliant service and so helpful by Sally (Blisworth, U.K.)
I stumbled across Victoria Fall Guide by accident, but I am so glad I did. Tony and Boo were so helpful, advising us on the best activities for us as I have mobility issues, and arranging our itinerary and booking everything.
I had no worries about using them, or sending a very large payment to someone I didn’t know. Everything they booked for us was so well organised, pick ups on time, knowledgeable and friendly guides, clean transport. We did the walking tour of the falls, the sunset dinner cruise, full day at Chobe, the team, lion encounter and the helicopter and every single one was faultless.
We were also due to do the lunar rainbow but unfortunately it was cancelled, however boo arranged the refund immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We are so grateful to them for making our special holiday even more so.
