Using SA rands

Can I use rands via my SA credit card? We are only in Vic Falls for 3 days, to bring my husband's ashes home to rest. We will probably only spend on meals and a couple of excursions. Or do I need to get US dollars from standard bank in SA?

Paying for things in Zimbabwe with Rand

Hi Marilyn

You can use you SA credit card you will just be debited the Rand equivalent of the USD cost + any foreign transaction fees that your bank will charge. It is advisable to have a little bit of USD cash with you but not absolutely necessary, you can use your rand cash but just be aware that you won't get the most favorable exchange rate from Rand to USD.

If you are looking at doing some activities then I would suggest booking them through us prior to travelling, as we have an SA Rand account that you can pay into thereby avoiding any foreign transaction fees.
