Unbelievable! Typical Greed and Corruption in Africa!
by Elaine
(Johannesburg, South Africa)
Although I think this is unbelievable I have lived in Africa too long not to roll my eyes and claim how a plan like this is so typical of the greed and corruption that is disgustingly prevalent in Africa. There would have to be massive international outcries to stop this - if it is not just a rumour. Yet massive international outcry has done nothing to stop logging in the Amazon Basin. Money speaks in Africa far more loudly than nature conservation and as the saying goes, "Today is not tomorrow" so why should those who benefit financially care about tomorrow?
However if the scheme does go ahead it would appallingly destructive in so many ways and everything that can be done to stop it, should.
