The Golden Leaf restaurant Unique Restaurants in LivingstoneIf you are a visitor to the area you are probably not coming for the food, you are more than likely coming for the sights but below we have given you a few highlights for dining out in Livingstone. Waterfront RestaurantOne of our personal favourite restaurants in Livingstone for low key dining with a great atmosphere is the Waterfront. This is a lodge and campsite on the Zambezi River which offers great pub food. Their Peppino's Pizza oven, with its much raved about thin-crust wood-fired pizzas, is a delight. All of this can be enjoyed with a view of the Zambezi River, reasonably priced drinks and even a splash pool for those steaming hot days. It is also a fantastic sunset spot! The Waterfront is a good place to hang out if you are looking to meet other travellers.
The Waterfront Bridge Café RestaurantThe Bridge Café is an inimitable dining experience with views of the Batoka Gorge, the Victoria Falls Bridge and a unique view of a section of the Victoria Falls waterfall when the river is high. This cafe is based in no-mans-land between Zambia and Zimbabwe, on the "Zambia side" of the famous Victoria Falls Bridge. Not only can you indulge in a delicious burger and fries and good coffee but you can also partake in activities offered at this spot, including bungee jumping, bridge swinging and sliding and a Historical Bridge Tour.
The Bridge Cafe Royal Livingstone Hotel Dining OptionsThe Royal Livingstone Hotel offers fantastic dining experiences serving world-class cuisine. The most famous is the Royal Livingstone Express which is a luxury dining experience aboard a steam train that also stops on the iconic Victoria Falls Bridge for sunset drinks. A fine a-la-carte menu is available in their Old Drift Restaurant or their lounge offers light dining, in a room full of fascinating history and artefacts from the area. We would highly recommend doing either lunch or high tea in their Kubu Restaurant, which is on the deck giving you unrivalled views overlooking the Zambezi River, some of the rainforest and the spray of the falls. Animals such as baboon, zebra, warthog, bushbuck and giraffe roam the lawns of the Royal Livingstone grounds, really giving you that "Out of Africa" feeling.
The Royal Livingstone Express Kubu Café RestaurantKubu Café is a daytime coffee shop in the main shopping centre of Livingstone town, that has a good view of people going about their daily lives. They offer free WIFI, comfortable seating, delicious light meals, and the best coffee in town. This is a loved spot mostly because of the shelves full of travel books and magazines and welcoming atmosphere, you will find yourself lounging here for a lot of the day catching up with emails, writing postcards and getting any other holiday admin out the way. Banks, exchange bureaus, the post office and a grocery store all a stone's throw away.
Kubu Cafe Elephant Café RestaurantA truly moving dining experience in Livingstone has got to be the Elephant Café. Though it is a little bit pricey, it is a once in a lifetime experience, dining with Africa giants close by. You can access the sanctuary by boat and not only is the divine 5 star, five-course meal something to write home about but interacting with the elephants, learning about them and how they came to be in the sanctuary and spending time with them, will definitely be one of the most memorable things you will ever do.
The Elephant Cafe - voted the best of restaurants in Livingstone and in Zambia Traditional Food Dining ExperienceFinally, for an authentic dining in Livingstone experience, visit the Mukuni Village just out of town.
