Introduction

Nguni Lodge is a small boutique garden lodge with just 14 rooms, nestled in the quiet residential suburbs just 3.5kms from the entrance of the Victoria Falls rainforest. It is a comfortable base from which to explore the Victoria Falls area and all that it has to offer.

Completely rebuilt and opened in March 2018, this thatched lodge has 8 standard rooms, one of which is a family room and 6 deluxe rooms all centred around an inviting swimming pool. Pleasant well manicured gardens and plenty of trees provide a calm setting with a few hanging pod and garden chairs. The central dining area, lounge and bar are very cleverly and tastefully decorated, with African inspired artwork.

Each of the rooms at Nguni are individually styled with modern luxurious bedding, sturdy teak furniture and unique ornaments. Deluxe rooms all face directly onto the pool and are slightly larger than the standard rooms. Standard rooms have views of either the garden or of the pool.

The 'Kraal' Restaurant & Bar for guests only, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and provides heart-warming, home-style meals. Guests can choose from a set dinner menu. The bar offers a delectable variety of cordials, beers, wines, cocktails and mock-tails. The chefs at Nguni has been trained by a local executive chef.

Nguni is a breed of cattle that is known for its hardiness, and derives it's name from the Nguni people of Southern Africa. At Nguni Lodge, you will see the various tributes to the Nguni cow, a symbol of resilience and adaptability. Every piece of artwork and furniture is made locally.

Transfers to and from town are arranged via a contracted taxi service, which is very reliable and inexpensive. Most arranged Victoria Falls activities will collect and drop you off at the lodge itself.

Our Opinion

Nguni Lodge offers comfortable and attractive accommodation at budget prices. As with all of these garden guest lodges they are slightly out of town, but transport is not an issue as regular taxi services are available.

The rooms lack a little privacy but for anyone who is spending most of their time out and about and is looking for cheaper priced accommodation of a good standard, Nguni Lodge is one of the best options available and represents extreme value for money.

The decor is particularly good as is their attention to detail, which really appeals to us. The staff are helpful, friendly and personalised, and they have undergone full service training. We have no hesitation in recommending this lodge.

• Self drive to Victoria Falls. Lodge is situated at 598 Ngugwuma Crescent.
• Fly to Victoria Falls Airport/Livingstone Airport or Kasane Airport and arrange a transfer or catch a taxi to the lodge. Ask us about booking your transfers.
