Introduction

Jollyboys Backpackers Lodge is situated in the heart of Livingstone town, 10 km from the magnificent Victoria Falls and offers good quality budget accommodation. The hostel is owner run and managed and they pride themselves on great service, up-to-date travel information, eco-friendly operations and clean, modern accommodation and facilities.

The hostel offers doubles, twins, dormitories with options for en-suite or shared bathrooms facilities depending on your budget, as well as camping facilities. They have a well-equipped self-catering kitchen for residents to use as well a lively bar and restaurant serving good affordable pub food, which you can enjoy from one of the many comfortable and well thought out lounges and lofts on the property. They also have free WIFI and guests spend a lot of time between activities lounging around their gorgeous natural rock style swimming pool.

The hostel was opened in the mid-nineties, and it was the first of its kind in Livingstone. The owners are English and Canadian expats who settled in Zambia more than 25 years ago giving them a good handle on tourism in the area and their standards follow international guidelines making it a cut above the rest when it comes to offering good quality service.

The Jollyboys team are part of many responsible tourism initiatives in and around Livingstone. They are very involved with local community projects and commission local artists and tradesmen as much as they possibly can. You can see the funky Zambian influence in all the bright and colourful local chitenge fabric and stunning wrought iron artwork used for most of the furnishings and fittings around the lodge. The rooms all have homemade soaps made from ladies in the village and the little shop is bursting with artwork and souvenirs made by local Zambians.

Jollyboys is a travellers home away from home, the whole team is very welcoming and they go out of their way to make sure you really enjoy your time in Zambia!

If you are looking for budget accommodation and seek a quirky backpackers atmosphere and style, then we would highly recommend Jollyboys Backpackers as the best option in Livingstone town. It's a great place to meet interesting and adventurous travellers from around the world, who are also normally quite keen to enjoy a good party. It's well priced for what it offers and is well run and friendly. Located in the centre of Livingstone, it's easy to catch a taxi to get around to see the sights and sounds of Livingstone.
