Imbabala Safari LodgeTheir dream was of an unspoilt river wilderness lodge where guests rapidly become friends
IntroductionImbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge was the vision of Ron and Jean White back in 1988 when Imbabala Lodge was first built. Their dream was of an unspoilt river wilderness lodge where guests rapidly became friends. The White family are legends in Victoria Falls, and their hearts are truly in the African bush. The Lodge is situated on a 4000 acre private concession in the Matetsi Safari Area, only 80 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls and not far from where the four countries of Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia meet. Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge is beautifully positioned on a riverine fringe of the mighty Zambezi River shaded by ancient ebony trees, the main lodge is a charming thatched structure, consisting of a lounge, wildlife reference library with fireplace, dining room and cocktail bar. There is also a swimming pool with sun deck and poolside bar making it the perfect place for anyone to relax and unwind. With 11 kilometres of Zambezi River frontage, Imbabala has some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching opportunities in the region, all in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The concession borders the Chobe Forest Reserve which is renowned for its massive Elephant population - herds of up to 1500 elephants have been seen on the floodplains below the Imbabala Safari Camp! Our OpinionWe like Imbabala because it is beautifully positioned on the banks of the Zambezi River, there is lots to do, and the Victoria Falls is just 80kms downstream. Accommodation at Imbabala Safari LodgeImbabala Safari Lodge accommodates only 18 guests in stone and thatch chalets with private en-suite facilities. The chalets are individually and tastefully decorated all beautifully positioned with sweeping views on the Zambezi River.
