Exciting Routes Linking Victoria Falls With Other Destinations
Inaugural FastJet flight - Nelspruit to Victoria Falls
The world is opening up, and the airlines have some great new routes in store to make your multi-destination vacation a breeze. New routes (and some old ones) link Victoria Falls to some top destinations including East Africa, Kruger, Hwange, Okavango and Chobe National Parks, as well as the city of Windhoek. Pre-Covid, Victoria Falls was already easy to access from Nairobi via Kenya Airways (KQ). KQ flies from Nairobi to Victoria Falls and on to Cape Town, with the return leg on the same day. This means that you can enjoy destinations in east Africa and make your way down to Zimbabwe and South Africa with ease. Ethiopian Airways (ET), with its wide network, flies from the hub of Addis Ababa to Victoria Falls. The airline has the most impressive list of destinations on the continent, flying to 22 cities in Europe, North and South America, 26 cities in the Gulf, Middle East and Asia, plus 62 cities in Africa, all linked to the hub in Addis Ababa.
Last May (2021), MackAir introduced daily Kasane-Victoria Falls flights to help get visitors to and from the Chobe National Park via Kasane town, as the land borders were closed. Later on, they added on a second daily flight. However, those flights might change now that Zimbabwe's land borders have been opened to tourists. Nonetheless, in April, MackAir and Central Air Transport Services (CATS) will partner to bring you daily scheduled flights between Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park's various airstrips, making it even easier to add a Hwange safari to your Victoria Falls holiday. Most recently, FastJet added the first Victoria Falls – Nelspruit flight, linking Victoria Falls with South Africa's Kruger National Park. Previously, Nelspruit flights to the Vic Falls area were only possible with Airlink's flight into Livingstone (Zambia), or charter flight. In June, FastJet will further expand their network to include Vic Falls to Maun flights, four days a week. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta, one of the world's most fascinating safari areas. A new long-haul flight from Frankfurt will start on 30 March, linking Germany's major airport with Victoria Falls via Windhoek (Namibia). Eurowings, part of the Luftansa Group, will start with three flights a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. All-in-all, these are exciting times, especially for us in Victoria Falls. We welcome these new developments with open arms.
