Introduction

Elephant Valley Lodge is a tented safari lodge located in a unique position overlooking the Lesoma Valley in the Chobe District, which is home to a large population of the African elephant.

Besides the many elephants that pass through the valley, buffalo, giraffe, antelope, leopard, lion, other predators, mongoose and many other small animal species can be spotted from the central areas of the lodge and Valley Tents.

The main lounge and bar area situated right in the front of the lodge on the edge of the valley/vlei is where guests get the best views of the waterhole and the ever-changing scenery. The wooden decking under thatch gives the feeling of a true safari type camp. The front rim-flow pool is a popular place to cool off, enjoy a cold drink and watch the African day unfold.

The African Boma area, where dinner is served under the vast Night Sky is a unique experience. The tranquil setting allows guests to enjoy the night sounds of the animals and smaller critters, whilst enjoying a traditional meal cooked on the open fire.

There are two types of tents offered at the lodge– the Valley Tents and the Forest Tents.

Valley tents are located at the front edge of the valley with uninterrupted views of the vlei and waterhole. Guests can often enjoy the passing by of a gentle giant going on its way, from their private veranda.

Forest tents are located deeper within the woodlands under the sturdy Acacia Trees that form a large shady canopy. Each has its own veranda to sit on and enjoy the birds and the view of the swimming pool that they are built around.

The lodge is enclosed with an electric fence for the safety of guests both at night and in the day.

Elephant Valley lodge offers its own game viewing 4 x 4 vehicles and cruises into the Chobe National Park and on the Chobe River. Being on safari can get tiring and some guests choose to just sit and relax and enjoy the view and game sightings from the lodge – An Armchair Safari at its best.

The reserve is part of the wildlife corridor, in between Chobe National Park in the west, and the Zambezi National Park (Zimbabwe) in the east.

Our Opinion

The location of Elephant Valley lodge is unique, in that it is well away from the busy town of Kasane, where most of the lodges and hotels are located, along the Chobe River.

We like its remote wilderness feeling, that it overlooks an active waterhole and that it is only 30 mins from the Chobe National Park Entrance.

This tented lodge in our opinion offers a great safari experience – both around the grounds and in the well renowned Chobe Safari area, all at a reasonable price.

A good choice for guests wanting to slow down, relax whilst not missing out on a moments game viewing.

Elephant Valley Lodge is a good option to combine with Victoria Falls as well as Hwange National Park.

Customer Feedback

Brilliant service and so helpful
by Sally (Blisworth, U.K.)
I stumbled across Victoria Fall Guide by accident, but I am so glad I did. Tony and Boo were so helpful, advising us on the best activities for us as I have mobility issues, and arranging our itinerary and booking everything. I had no worries about using them, or sending a very large payment to someone I didn’t know. Everything they booked for us was so well organised, pick ups on time, knowledgeable and friendly guides, clean transport. We did the walking tour of the falls, the sunset dinner cruise, full day at Chobe, the team, lion encounter and the helicopter and every single one was faultless. We were also due to do the lunar rainbow but unfortunately it was cancelled, however boo arranged the refund immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. We are so grateful to them for making our special holiday even more so.
