Day trip to Victoria Falls on Zimbabwean side
by Hilda Scott
Sunrise over the Zambezi We visited the falls in July 2022 and stayed on the Zambian side at the Royal Livingstone Hotel. We had limited time, but really wanted to see as much as we could on the Zimbabwean side of the falls too. Stacey did a fantastic job arranging a wonderful day trip for us. Everything was meticulously planned from pick up to drop off at our hotel in Zambia. Our day trip started with an early morning pick up at 5:45am from where we crossed the border into Zimbabwe. It took us less than 10 minutes to cross the border that early in the morning which was great. Once we reached Victoria Falls Town, we were met by our safari driver who took us on a safari in the Zambezi National Park where we saw the sun rise over the Zambezi. After our safari we visited the falls. Since 75% of the falls are on the Zimbabwean side, we spent a good three hours at the falls and had tea at the Rainforest Cafe inside the falls National Park. From there we walked to the Victoria Falls Hotel for lunch and to relax in the garden. After lunch we were picked up at the hotel and taken to the Ra-Ikane jetty for our sunset cruise on the iconic replica of David Livingstone's boat. We saw a lot of wildlife up close and the sunset on the Zambezi was magnificent. After our cruise we were met at the jetty by our driver who took us back to Zambia. Thanks to Stacey, the whole day trip ran very smoothly and we were able to squeeze in quite a lot in one day, but we would like to return one day for a longer stay in Zimbabwe.
