Chobe Game Lodge was the first permanent lodge within the Chobe National Park, and still has an edge over the other lodges that are outside the park. The lodge is surrounded by the park and has views of the Chobe River and the flood plains which are ever teaming with wildlife.

Chobe Game Lodge is a luxury lodge and the prices will reflect this. The rates are fully inclusive, which means that apart from your accommodation, your meals and drinks (local beverages only) will be covered in the cost. Activities offered by the lodge are also included, and you may choose from early morning or afternoons game drives within the park, and morning and evening river cruises on the Chobe River. Other inclusions are laundry and Chobe National Park entrance fees. At Chobe Game Lodge, you will be pampered with excellent food, luxury facilities and a safari experience like no other.

This gallery gives an idea of the kind of experience you can expect at Chobe Game Lodge. The gorgeous and luxurious accommodation and guest facilities, perfectly matched with the fully inclusive services and awesome activities in Chobe.

You can see that Chobe Game Lodge is unlike a typical safari camp, but more of a hotel within the game park, with quite a few rooms though not too many that guests become crowded. The surrounding wilderness can be taken in from the wooden deck or the gardens both situated right by the river's edge.

Our Opinion

Some trip advisor reviews rave about the game guides, while others say they are appalling. My view on this is that Chobe Game Lodge is "a hotel in a game park". One of the best game parks in Africa which teams with game in the dry season and the game viewing therefore speaks for itself. Guiding here however I believe will not be of the same standard as in a smaller exclusive safari camp, which offer a more intense wildlife experience.

Its advantage is that it is the only lodge to be located inside the park, which means that in the morning game lodge guests are ahead of all the other vehicles that come in from outside the park and it also allows them to stay longer in the evenings when the game viewing is particularly good. Chobe Game Lodge is suited to guests prepared to pay top dollars and want the luxury and facilities that a hotel has over a smaller bush camp.
