Chikwenya CampSmall and Personalised, Luxury Safari Camp, Situated on a Prime and Private Wildlife Concession on the Eastern boundary of Mana Pools National ParkIntroductionChikwenya Safari camp is situated on the eastern boundary on Mana Pools National Park, at the mouth of the Sapi River, where it meets the mighty Zambezi River. It's remote and it's real Africa. The private concession that the camp sits on, gives Chikwenya guests the advantage of night drives as well as privacy on their game drives and walks, an important factor when considering Mana Pools these days. The seven spacious and luxurious tents are generously spaced out, giving each one the utmost privacy and unique views across wide floodplains and the Zambezi River. The Zambian escarpment provides an impressive backdrop, to complete this mesmerising setting. The central area offers dining, bar and lounge spaces, where guests can truly relax in a great deal of comfort. For those wanting to cool off in the heat of the day, the swimming pool is perfectly positioned to capture the stunning views. Groves of natal mahoganies and winter thorn trees surround the camp providing deep cool shade in the extremely hot months. The birdlife in these forests is just superb and is sure to satisfy the keenest of birdwatchers. The floodplains of Mana Pools are synonymous with outstanding game viewing and scenery. Chikwenya's prime location on the eastern boundary of this National Park ensures that you lock into this. Chikwenya is able to offer a wide range of activities because of its location on the Zambezi River. Game drives, night drives and walks with a professional guide, canoeing and river cruises, which can also include fishing. This stretch of the Zambezi is famous for its tiger fishing and anglers come from around to world just to fish here. Chikwenya is open seasonally between April and mid/late November. Packages which include Wilderness Safari's sister camps in Hwange National Park are available. Please contact us for full details and all options available. Our OpinionChikwenya is a Wilderness Safari's Classic Camp, which for us, means total confidence in the standards they provide in all areas, from their prime concessions, with invariably the best game viewing potential, to the excellent guiding and delicious cuisine, along with the overall general management of their camps. Wilderness standards generally speak for themselves. Chikwenya's remote location adds a certain spice to this camp and one really feels a connection with nature. It's top end and you have to pay a high price tag for this, but if it's within your price range then it we wholly recommend it. The tents are just beautiful and cannot be faulted. The small size of the camp, means it's also very personalized, which we prefer for the ultimate safari experience. Being located just on the edge of the national park, means that river cruises can be included in Chikwenya's array of activities, which is a definite advantage over camps located on the inside.
