Cash shortages in Zimbabwe

26th May 2016 Zimbabwe currently has an extreme shortage of US$ cash notes. Towns such as Victoria Falls seems to be a little more liquid than the cities like Harare. Some of the banks ATM machines either have no cash at all or are only dispensing limited amounts and although a few banks appear to have some cash at the moment the situation is changing daily. It would appear that foreign cards can withdraw higher amounts than local cards but please until we update this post don't rely soley on drawing cash from an ATM while you are here on holiday, bring some cash with you. Credit cards are now widely accepted at most hotels, restaurants and the larger shops and operators but a certain amount of cash in hand is very important. As soon as the situation improves I will update this post.
