Sikumi Tree LodgeA cheap lodge in a reasonable game viewing areaIntroductionSikumi Tree lodge was once an upmarket lodge in a great location on the Dete Vlei, with easy access to Victoria Falls. This page used to have glowing reports, however on our last visit there in August 2018 (although we didn't spend the night there) we did feel that the camp has become a little run down and this would no longer be our first choice of accommodation for our clients. The rates are cheaper than most other camps in Hwange, which some people will find attractive, but it is important to be aware of what you are getting for that price. The area does have reasonable game viewing and the waterhole in front of the lodge is very close and often very active, which allows for a great animal viewing experience. I also have no doubt that the staff are very good, which is the norm throughout Zimbabwe. In my opinion you pay for what you get, in any situation. If you are coming to Africa to enjoy a safari, then going for the cheapest option is not necessarily the best. However if that is what you can afford then go for it but be prepared for the standard of accommodation that you will be getting.
